I quantifying as a counsellor in 2014 and have had lots of experience working with children and young people, pre and post-graduation. During my training, I worked as a student counsellor at Barnardos, working with children whose lives had been affected by a range of traumatic events. I also worked here as a qualified counsellor until July 2017.

In May 2015, I began my work at the Road Centre where I have worked in many different schools, working with children of all different ages. My current role continues to support children in schools and I have also helped develop a counselling service, alongside some of the staff at The Road Centre, for children who are in foster care across South Tyneside. I also work privately with adults, children and young people.

My experience covers a range of different issues including bereavement, sexual abuse, neglect, complicated bereavements, complicated traumas, bullying, self-harm and suicide, low confidence, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, emotional abuse and much, much more.

I work from a client centred perspective but will often adapt my theoretical approach depending on what I feel will work best for the individual. My aim is to support the client in gaining a better understanding of ‘self', to understand behavioural patterns and relationships, and helping them to gain autonomy.
